Ilchi Lee’s Magical Connection to Sedona

In 1996, Ilchi Lee travelled from Los Angeles to Sedona after reading about it in a local newspaper. He immediately knew that it was the uniquely spiritual land for which he had been searching, a place where people could expand their minds through an intimate connection with nature. After arriving in Sedona in the dark of night, the first thing he saw upon awakening the next morning was a stone formation that looked like it was meditating. He thought, “In Sedona, even the rocks meditate.”

Ilchi Lee felt the earth’s energy as he meditated in many locations in the Sedona area.  While sitting deep in meditation on top of Bell Rock, one of the area’s strongest power spots, he experienced a rush of energy surge up from within Bell Rock into his body. Surrounded by and encapsulated within this sphere of energy, Lee heard a message from Sedona asking him to remind people of their connection to the earth and their essential divine nature.

On another occasion, while meditating on Bell Rock, Ilchi Lee had a vision of the late Lester Levenson, founder of the Sedona Method and the Sedona Retreat Center. This experience led Lee to seek ownership of the retreat property that Levenson had developed. Soon, Lee and his students established the Sedona Mago Retreat. The 160-acre retreat center is nestled among the dramatic red rocks of the sacred Native American lands of the Coconino National Forest. Sedona Mago Retreat is owned and operated by Tao Fellowship, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the spirit of Tao as universal principles of harmony and peace.

Ilchi Lee’s New York Times bestseller The Call of Sedona: Journey of the Heart vividly describes his magical connection to this remarkable region and its spirit.
